Meet our Celebrity Team Captains
Get ready for some major celebrity spotting at Superhero Tri because we have Paralympians and TV personalities queuing up to be a Superhero for the day! Below is only the first fantastic wave of Celebrity Team Captains stepping up to the challenge. What’s more, you could win a place on their team!
In an inspiring story of triumph over adversity, the former Royal Marines Commando who was seriously wounded in Afghanistan, went on to win multiple medals at the Invictus Games and was one of the main Channel 4 presenters and ‘TV husband’ of fellow Celebrity Team Captain Sophie Morgan during the Rio Paralympics. Whoever wins a place on his team will see close-up the steeliness behind those Clark Kent glasses on the day!
Sophie Christiansen, OBE
We’re making the world-famous equestrian work very hard for our first event – she’s an ambassador and a Celebrity Team Captain! But with eight Paralympic gold medals under her belt, we think she can just about handle it. She’ll be swapping her horse for a recumbent trike at Superhero Tri and doing the Celebrity Superhero Tri as well as taking on the Full Superhero Tri. Go Sophie!
There’s a new sporting superstar on the scene! The 25-year-old Paralympian sprinted and cycled her way into the history books at Rio to become the first British team member to win gold in two separate sports in over 30 years. The current cycling time trial world record holder, who has multiple sclerosis, will be taking part in her first ever triathlon at Superhero Tri and is looking forward to meeting her two teammates. Could it be you?
We just love Anne Dickins’ story. The 49-year-old mum of two hadn’t even sat in a canoe four years ago. She’s now the reigning Paralympic, World and European paracanoe champion! She was also an endurance cyclist before an accident back in 2011 and will be taking on the Celebrity Superhero Tri bike stage on her tandem bike with her husband. Enter the competition now for your chance to team up with a real-life supermum!
The former Royal Engineer, who lost both of his legs in Afghanistan, has represented Britain in athletics at the World and European Championships, and this year added a Paralympic medal to his long list of achievements. He’s also got some serious Team Captain credentials having been selected to lead the British team in the inaugural Invictus Games. Will his be the winning team?
We are ridiculously excited to welcome yet another Paralympic champion to our first ever event! Only three years after experiencing a stroke, what an incredible year para-cyclist Megan Giglia has had. She took two golds at the World Championships and went on to break a world record and strike gold at Rio. She’ll be donning her famous sunnies and getting down to business on 19 August. Join her!
A TV presenter, artist, model and entrepreneur, it seems there’s nothing this Team Captain can’t do. In true Superhero spirit, Sophie – who was paralysed in a road traffic accident from the waist down in 2003 – is undeterred by the sporting Greats around her and can’t wait to get her teeth into this new challenge! Whoever wins a place on her team is in for some guaranteed fun.
More Celebrity Team Captains to be announced soon!
