The celebrity relay is always a super highlight of Superhero Tri & we’re thrilled to reveal the awesome Superheroes whose super stories have won them the chance to unite with our Celebrity Team Captains at Dorney Lake on 17 August!

We’re super-excited to see Adam back again at Superhero Tri powered by Marvel. The comedy king is taking on the swim this year & we can’t wait to see him in action! Whatever he & his teammates do, we're sure he'll put a super-watt smile on everyone’s faces.

Superhero Jasper (3km bike)

From: Reigate, Surrey

Jasper’s SUPER story: Meet Jasper! When he was 20 months old, he had a cardiac arrest from an undiagnosed heart condition, was put on a heart-lung machine. His lower spinal cord was damaged by a blood clot. His leg function is limited & he’s a full-time wheelchair user. He loves taking part in Superhero events & other sport & activities. He’s a member of the Mid Sussex para-swimming team & loves sit-waterskiing, sit-skiing & go-karting. When he’s older, he'd love to be a pilot or a TV presenter. This Superhero looks like the perfect teammate.

Jasper’s Superpower: His super-sonic speed!  

Superhero Aavir (1km push/run)

From: Brighton

Aavir’s SUPER story: Aavir, who has Cerebral Palsy, is continually proving to others that he is a true Superhero! After attending Superhero Tri last year, Aavir, & his family said that they felt like part of a superpowered community unlike anything they’d experienced before. Full of adventure, Aavir has taken part in handiskiing, jumped in Cenotes in Mexico & has fed giraffes in Kenya. He’s super excited to join Team Adam. He wants to show everyone his determination & inspire other potential Superheroes to join in.

Team Captain Alistair Patrick-Heselton (1km push/run)

Paralympic Footballer

We’re super excited to welcome Alistair, ex Queens Park Rangers footballer who went on to become a Paralympic footballer representing GB at London 2012. Alistair is now a mentor & speaker for the next generation of footballers, working with the PFA, Premier League & regional FA. Inducted in the National Football Museum Hall of Fame by the FA in 2017 in the ‘Football for All’ category, Alistair will be the perfect motivator for his team.

Superhero Andrew (150m swim/tow)

Earth Years: 61

Andrew’s SUPER story: Andrew truly is an all-round Superhero! He lost his leg in 1984 & hasn’t let it slow him down. As a superb swimmer & an enthusiastic member of Maidenhead Marlins Masters, he's one to watch this year as he takes on the first stage of the team race.

Superhero Lucy (3km bike)

Earth Years: 28

Lucy’s SUPER story: Lucy’s super alter ego is Zebra Girl, which she uses as cover when Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) comes to find her. Her mission is to spread the word about her condition to increase awareness. She has Sidekick support from her trusty Supermom Trudy & Super Dog Rosie – who will be by her side. She’s had recent hip surgery & her superpower is her electric wheelchair & this will be her gadget of choice at Superhero Tri this year. KAPOW!

You couldn’t ask for a more brilliant & bubbly celebrity team captain than this Paralympian & two-time world paracanoe champion! Anne & her Super Sidekick husband, Simon, are regular Superhero celebs. Their super gadget of choice is their tandem & they can be relied on to pedal super-hard to keep team spirits super high!

Superhero Gabriel (150m swim/tow)

Earth Years: 18

Gabriel’s SUPER story: Since making his Superhero debut last year, Gabriel is back & raring to go! He’s got Down’s syndrome, a great sense of humour & loves to swim & cycle. He loves keeping fit, working out & is hoping to be selected to swim for his country. He is super-stoked to be part of our celebrity relay & channel his Superhero spirit to the max for his team.

Superhero twins Lucy & Matthew (1km push/run)

Earth Years: 7

Lucy’s SUPER story: Super determined Lucy is twin number one. She has quadriplegic cerebral palsy & dystonia. Her gadget of choice is her super wheelchair which she uses to go wherever she wants. Superpowered by her SDR surgery, she’s now stronger than ever. Last year, Lucy’s twin brother & big sister completed the Superhero Tri to fund raise. This year, Lucy is super excited to be joining them!

Matthew’s SUPER story: Matthew is twin number two. He has diplegic cerebral palsy & ASD. He has the most super sense of humour & can make everyone around him laugh. Matthew is caring, motivated & hilarious to be around.  His determination has brought results & he’s now walking unaided & living a much more independent life. Since last year’s Superhero Tri, Matthew has been determined to complete more of the events using his own superpowers. We can’t wait to see him in action!

Super Mum & Paralympian 

We cannot wait to welcome Super mum & Paralympian Bethy to her first Superhero Tri! A Superhero in every way, Bethy now runs a farm with her family. We are certain Bethy will be a force to be reckoned with!

Superhero Deborah (150m swim/tow)

Earth Years: 56

Deborah’s SUPER story: The amazing Deborah is always ready to take on a challenge! Having taken part in many Superhero events over the last few years, she embraces the Superhero spirit through her involvement in many sports. She has hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Sport has changed her life. She’s an open water swimmer, recumbent trike rider & support volunteer with the military veterans. Deborah wants to encourage more veterans to engage in sport & wants to showcase the benefits of sport for older women. There really is nothing stopping her. This year, she’s taking on two events at Superhero Tri.

Superhero Ana (3km bike)

Earth Years: 13

Ana’s SUPER story: Super sporty Ana has ASD & dyspraxia. She loves Superheroes so much & she even has them on her leg splints.  Ana has tried out lots of new sports including frame running & wheelchair basketball. She recently took part in a half marathon on her frame runner.  Ana wants to show that girls with ASD can not only take on sport, but they can also be amazing at it too. Go Ana!

Look who’s back! It’s the SUPER baker, presenter, food columnist & all-round superstar, Briony Williams! She’s got just the right ingredients to rise to the challenge! She’s even learnt to swim for the occasion.

Superhero Sienna (3km bike)

From: Swansea, Wales

Sienna’s SUPER story: Sienna is a little pocket rocket! Her journey began when she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at three years old. She has surprised everyone ever since with her determination. Her standout superpower is using her strength training to achieve great things on the athletics track. She’s represented Wales at a national junior athletics competition. In addition to athletics, she also participates in climbing, swimming & gymnastics.  This year Sienna started Pentathlon & competed in her very first laser run competition. With her ‘can do’ attitude & tenacity, she inspires so many others & never fails to bring her smile & positivity!

Superhero Harley (1km push/run)

From: Portsmouth

Harley’s SUPER story: A SUPER-DUPER supporter of the Superhero Series, Harley has joined nearly every event since 2019. Harley tackles everything with determination & stamina. He’s continually smashed personal bests using his walking bike. His dream is to use a blade to walk & run. He’s taken on many missions including climbing over the O2, getting the Guinness World Record for the fastest 10km on a walking bike, just 15 months after having his foot amputated. We love that he is always defying the odds! Go Harley!

Team Captain David Wiseman (150m swim/tow)

Invictus Games medallist & former captain in the Army

David, a former infantryman who was shot in the chest in Afghanistan in 2009, is one of the architects of the Invictus Games. David went on to compete in three Invictus Games, winning a total of 14 medals in the pool & then headed up the team in 2016.  A true Superhero, he’s climbed to the summit of Manaslu, the eighth-highest mountain in the world. He’s got some serious Team Captain credentials!

David’s Superpower: Being bullet resistant

Superhero Isobel (3km bike)

From: Epping, Essex

Isobel’s SUPER story: Isobel was born prematurely, tiny & cute. Kryptonite complications including a stroke, a heart condition, right-sided hemiplegia & scoliosis have created a truly superpowered Superhero. Isobel pushes herself to stay active even when she's tired. She knows that activities like swimming lessons are her secret weapon to keep moving. Always ready to take on a new mission, Isobel can't wait to join David’s team. Her resilience & unstoppable spirit make her a true Superhero.

Owen’s SUPER story: Owen loves everything sport. In 2017 he was diagnosed with three rare syndromes which resulted in him losing his mobility three months later. The Superhero Series superpowered Owen back to sport with his debut at the first Superhero Tri. Since then, he’s taken part in every event.  He has gone on to represent the Superhero Series as an Ambassador, a Team Captain, a Marvellous Mascot & was recently capped as part of the Superhero Series Super honours list. He’s a SUPER Superhero!

We’re super excited to see Eve returning to Superhero Tri again this summer. A former GB Women’s wheelchair basketball player, super Eve knows what it takes to be a superpowered teammate. A lover of all things sport, her career has seen her championing inclusivity in the FA & now in motorsport. There’s no stopping Eve in her pursuit for success, making this team one to watch.

Superhero Billy (150m swim/tow)

Billy’s SUPER story: A superpowered member of the Superhero community, Billy has collected an impressive haul of Superhero medals. With his trusted Sidekick son, Noah, alongside him, Billy finds his power by channelling his spirit through Superhero missions.  Billy uses sport to tackle his kryptonite which is his fibromyalgia. He’s passionate about participating himself but can also be found encouraging & supporting others. He’s an Essex All Together Ambassador, showing others how important it is to take on sport & physical activity.

Andi’s SUPER story: When Andi took part in the first-ever Superhero Tri back in 2017, it was the first time she had taken part in any kind of sporting event since she was at school. Since then, her superpowers have continued to flourish & over the years she’s managed to expand the number of mission components & distances she has completed. Plus, she never misses the chance to dress up & dive into the super-fun spirit of our events, always adding her Superhero sparkle to every occasion. We’re super-excited she’ll be jumping into the fray once more this summer!

Andi’s Superpower:  Super leadership & support for Superheroes everywhere

Team Captain Fi Cranswick (150m swim/tow)

Military superhero

Fiona, a true Superhero, injured her hips & spine while serving in the Royal Air Force. Less than a year after emergency spinal surgery, she competed in the Invictus Games in Orlando, winning one gold & three silver medals in swimming. She earned the nickname "Femo" (after Nemo the fish) because only one of her "flippers" (legs) worked. We’re super excited that she’s back.

Fi’s Superpower: Being the eternal optimist.

Superhero Rory (3km bike)

From: London

 

Rory’s SUPER story: Rory was born a Superhero at eight weeks premature. He has Cerebral Palsy & can move at lightning speed on his various super gadgets, which include his Kaye walker & his tripod sticks. He pedals his trike faster than his parents can run. He can also be found in a pool.  He’s astounded everyone as he can now stand for a full minute & has taken two full steps forward. Throughout his mission, his infectious laughter & irresistible charm wins over everyone he meets. Rory’s indomitable spirit & ability to spread joy makes him a true superhero!

From: Brighton

Jess’ SUPER story: Jess' journey transformed into one of resilience & heroism in 2011 when she was diagnosed with intracranial idiopathic hypertension, leading to excess fluid on her brain. The result of this has been multiple surgeries. She added to her kryptonite with a prolapsed disc. She uses various gadgets for her daily missions including a walker & a wheelchair. Jess is a beacon of positivity & inspiration. She doesn’t believe in ‘can’t’ & that’s what makes her a true Superhero in every way.

One of our favourite faces on Channel 4, this roving reporter’s sporting past is also none too shabby! He played wheelchair basketball at national level & was two-time European champion with the GB Junior team, which he captained in 2004. Perfect credentials to lead his team.

Jordan’s Superpower: Teleporting & being in multiple places in a blink!

Superhero Russell (150 swim/tow)

Earth Years: 34

Russell’s SUPER Story: Russell has a rare condition called Ataxia Telangiectasia. It affects his arms, legs, & speech, making it hard to stand & requiring help with daily tasks. But he still has SUPER thumbs to play PS4 & watch TV. A fundraiser for White Lodge, Russell took on Superhero Tri last year. He loved it & is back for more.

Superhero Dara (3km bike)

Earth Years: 4

Dara’s SUPER story: Dara has an unknown genetic mutation which makes her limbs & muscles super tight. She’s progressed from being unable to sit or stand & can now sit independently, pull herself up to stand, walk with a walker & even cycle with a specialist trike. Ready to start school in September, she cannot wait to share her Superhero Tri experiences with her new friends & teachers.

Dara’s Superpower: A SUPER imagination

Earth Years: 46

Dean’s SUPER story: Before developing spastic paraparesis, Dean loved running. When he became a wheelchair user, he didn’t know how he would continue his passion for sport.  His spirits were lifted when he met a fellow Superhero & he has since become a wheelchair racer. We cannot wait to see him in action!

This SUPER talented para-athlete has been no stranger to adversity throughout his life. Multi-talented across para-triathlon & para-alpine slalom, Josh is both a determined & hard-working sportsman with true Superhero spirit. A perfect team captain.

Caleb SUPER story: KAPOW! Caleb, AKA Super boy, is twinned with Superhero Callistus. He superpowers everyone with his positive personality. He’s always laughing & showing off. He will be towed in the water by a super Sidekick & will set the team up for glory!

A regular at Superhero Tri, this super star swimmer is one of only a select few to have won gold medals in the Paralympics, World Championships & European Championships! As always, she’ll be diving headfirst into the Celebrity Challenge & she’ll be taking her winning teammates with her!

Freya’s SUPER story: Meet the fearless Freya, a perfect example of how sport can be a superpower. Since participating in the Superhero events, she’s become more confident & purposeful. She’s won many swimming medals, taken part in the Special Olympics, & had active involvement in two dance clubs. Her school proudly showcases a large picture of her outside the sports hall, a testament to her Superhero journey! We are now super proud that she’s a Superhero Series ambassador.

Superhero Carmela (1km push/run)

From: Wareham, Dorset

Carmela’s SUPER story: Meet Superhero, Wonder Girl, Carmela. Having Muscular Dystrophy requires some serious superpowers & Carmela has these in abundance. She has won multiple awards for her superpowered fundraising & has taken on many Superhero missions attending nearly every Superhero event since she was 3 years old. She can often be found leading the warmup routines for the Superheroes at Superhero Tri & has won her sporting stripes as a part of numerous Celebrity Superhero Tri teams. Like any good Superhero, Carmela counts on her Sidekicks & her Sidekick mum & dad, and poodle, Tinker, are often at hand to take on a mission alongside her.

We are SUPER excited to welcome GB triathlete Oliver aka “The Silent Speedster” who is joining our 2024 line up…Roll on 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo where he is determined to win a gold medal!!!

Oliver’s Superpower: His SUPER powered cochlear implant – without it, he is 100% deaf.

Superhero Emerson (3km bike)

Earth Years: 9

Emerson’s SUPER story: A regular Superhero participant, Emerson is always ready to jump into a super mission with his Marvel wheels & signature smile! He has a spinal arachnoid cyst & is paralysed from the chest down, but continues to do everything he used to do, just in a slightly different way – quite often in a more fun way, too. This Superhero already has a super stash of Superhero medals & can’t wait to add to his super collection this summer! With his fast & furious competitive spirit, he always gets the job done!

Superhero Eve (1km push/run)

From: Surrey

Eve’s SUPER story: Super Eve (Tiny Tornado) has an extremely rare chromosome condition & epilepsy. We have watched her blossom since the debut event & she even took her first independent steps at a Superhero event when Channel 4 just happened to be filming her! Along with her super Sidekick mum & dad, Eve is always super excited to take part. This year we are super excited to see how far she will walk independently.

We can’t wait to welcome this SUPER fast Paralympian to the Superhero Series family. He’s won multiple medals as a wheelchair racer & has now started his own racing squad to encourage fellow Superheroes to get into & enjoy sport

Superhero Lizzie (150m swim/tow)

Lizzie’s SUPER story: Lizzie is one SUPER active Superhero. She dances, acts, cycles, climbs, runs & takes part in gymnastics. At the age of 18 months, she was seriously ill with sepsis & fought very hard to survive. She had to relearn how to walk. Being selected to be part of Team Richard has given Lizzie a super boost & she can’t wait to show everyone her superpowers at Superhero Tri. KAPOW!

Henry’s SUPER story: Following in his family’s footsteps, Henry is ready to take on the Celebrity Superhero Tri for the first time. You can find his Superhero mum also taking part in Team Stephen. New to wheelchair racing & eager to go, we can’t wait to see this amazing superhero in action. This super resilient superhero never stops digging deep.

This incredible, five-time Paralympic medallist is joining the fold once again & we can’t wait to see how he channels his supersonic powers to complete his mission. He may be retired from professional sport, but he is a professional super Superhero!

Superpower: Positive thinking

Superhero Chloe (150m swim/tow)

Earth years: 17                                                          

Chloe’s SUPER story: Meet Superhero Chloe! She has cerebral palsy, global developmental delay, & visual impairment. Chloe loves taking on sports challenges with her Sidekick dad, Stephan. They've done everything from 10km runs to triathlons. They’ve been known to take on 4 missions at Superhero Tri.  Sidekick Stephan tows Chloe for the swim, then attaches her racing chair to his bike for the cycle, & finally he pushes Chloe for the run while she shouts for him to go faster.

Earth Years: 40

Fleur’s SUPER story: Meet Super Mum Fleur. Super in every possible way she will be superpowered by her Sidekick daughter, Molly in the final stage of the celebrity team Tri.  She’s from a family of sport loving Superheroes & you might spot her Superhero son, Henry, in Team Richard. Blink & you will miss them both!
