Superhero Series is for all the unsung Superheroes who boldly face what life throws at them & you can’t get more super than David Langley.

David made his debut at Superhero Tri in 2017 & has attended almost every event since, come rain or shine.

With 75 earth years under his belt, David is one of the most experienced Superheroes in the fold & a legendary member of the community. Having racked up so many earth years does come with its challenges, but Superhero David doesn’t let this stop him.

“I’ve always loved sport & being active,” he says. “I was never top of the team when I was young but I always gave everything a good go. My relationship with sport hasn’t changed much; it’s now whether I can do it or not! I say that, but whatever I want to do I find a way.”

As we know, every good Superhero can rely on trusty Sidekick family & friends to help them complete their missions & David has six super daughters happy to help out.

“All the events I’ve done I’ve had a one daughter swimming, one cycling & one pushing me along,” explains David. “I just sit in my chair saying, ‘Come on! Let’s move!’ It’s great!”

Even the pandemic didn’t stop David. His current HQ is a residential home in Surrey where he called on some new Sidekicks to assist him when his daughters couldn’t join him, who may have been slightly less enthusiastic than his usual team…

“When I took part in the virtual event I think my helpers moaned more than me, ha! It was good to have a way to be active even with everything going on.”

When we ask David why he takes part in the Superhero Series, his response is characteristically upbeat. “There’s a great buzz & atmosphere on the day,” he says. “Everyone is so helpful.”

“Plus it’s something we can do together as a family,” adds his Sidekick daughter, Rebecca.

As we say goodbye, David shares his hopes for sport for people with a disability. “I think that when I became disabled I really wanted to keep going & get on with things, but a lot of people find that hard, which is really sad,” he says. “I want to see things made easier for people with disabilities to keep active because of how fun it is & that’s what the Superhero Series does.”

We can’t wait to see him donning his cape at the upcoming Superhero Series summer events.

If you consider yourself to be a Superhero or have a Superhero in the family who would love the chance to be active & have a SUPER-sized day out, check out our upcoming live & virtual summer events. David & the Superhero team can’t wait to welcome you!
